Hey Dan...... I never went that far up to be honest as it was only suppose to be a reconnaissance mission. And I certainly got wet in the process. Very boggy terrain lol. Finding the spot was not a problem, just follow the river rofl but wow... you never said owt about the waterfalls. I was blown away by the views. Question.... Can you get up Pen-Yr-Ole-Wen up that route if you go further up ? I am really excited about this new location and planning of going for a sunrise shot next weekend sometime.
Anyways.. rambling on... Thanks again for the info. Will keep you updated about my progress of exploration rofl. xxx
Just looked at my map... Pen-yr-ole-wen was our last summit of the day, we walked the ridge from Carnedd Daffyd, and Pen-yr looked the easiest way down, so we walked across to it then down to the road near the youth hostel. It was mega steep, I'd imagine it would be way steeper going up the side of it from the path with the falls. Best off taking the path from the hostel, which is still pretty tough! Might be a less steep route to the north. Views from the top are INSANE though
Thanks..... Will see how far up I gonna get. Planning on going again over easter weekend for some sunrise shots. I found a hiking route that supposedly will take me up Pen Yr Ole Wen from where said to start. I knew about the path from the youth hostel but it looked way to steep for me to go up on and I wasnt even going to try. But the way up you showed me seems to be more gentle, at least on the lower half. Its worth a try even if I only get half way. The views even from there are just total wow factor. Your image of Tryfan from Pen yr ole wen looks just totally amazing. xx
